“Life after care giving is so essential and rarely addressed.  I have now in some fashion cared and for both of my parents during their last years of life.  Once they transition it leaves the caregiver in such an empty space.  My Mom passed last year in March and I struggled for months.  While you are going through this you really do not understand what you are experiencing. Although I did not benefit from Joy’s House during this time I am so grateful for the services Joys House provides.  I have believed in the work Joys House provides is necessary.  I love this place and all it represents. Thank you for all you do!”

Tamela
“I know I can step in and see one of you.  I have a place I can come and unload.  I feel like I’ve gotten my life back.”
Debbie

“What you do for both my parents is promote dignity and human flourishing. You allow my dad an opportunity to be around a positive community that provides intellectual stimulation (he loves trivia!) and my mom as his caregiver a chance to be herself – to nap, have lunch with a friend, run errands, etc.”

Rachel

“This kit helped me to get organized at a time when I was really struggling. It also encouraged me to think ahead – to things that I had no clue would take place in my household, with my husband or with me.”

“My family’s most used page out of the CARE Kit is the Upcoming Doctors Visit form. This form has helped my dad feel much more comfortable asking his siblings for support and trusting that correct information gets shared, and all the necessary questions are asked. My dad gets relief from all the appointments, and his siblings are equipped to play a more active role in caring for their aging father.”
