Love. Love. Love.

On opening day at Joy’s House, we were a little nervous. We didn’t know what the future would hold, but we knew that we had care in our hearts and support from the community. I will forever be grateful to Myra Borshoff who entrusted us with the care of her mother, Miss Grayce, our very first Guest (client). From the moment that Miss Grayce told us that she was (also!) nervous, I knew I wanted to keep her safe. When she smiled at me and her eyes lit up, she had my heart until she took her last breath. The love that I have for Miss Grayce continues through our mission and the families we serve, to this day. Love is interesting – no matter how much we give away, we somehow always have more. It’s like magic of the heart.

At Joy’s House, we have experienced a lot over the years – moments of joy, grief and growth. We can and will talk about what the future brings, but for now, I want to take a moment to celebrate the first 25 years of Joy’s House. And I want to settle into the fact that we are made up of millions of moments and that we are grateful for every. single. one. of. them.

Joy's House Service Stats

In 1999, Ann Galvin quietly began donating to our scholarship fund. Because of our dear friend Ann, hundreds of families were able to receive services, education, and community at Joy’s House.

Our family caregivers are our heroes. We are honored that they believe in us and trust us to care for their loved ones for 25 years.

We want to thank ALI Friends for who they have been to each individual Guest. Guests have thrived from a relationship with them, lit up when they joined us for a bingo afternoon and have been overwhelmed by their generosity and thoughtfulness.

Joy's House path

Our Next 25 Years

In my role as President at Joy’s House, maintaining our culture is first on my heart. The embracing warmth, the comfort, the joy is evident in everything – our people, our families, and I’m convinced even in the wallpaper.

And if you were to ask, what’s next? Our objective is to amplify our mission to reach even more families and include even more of our community in service of caregivers and those with life-altering diagnoses. Through evaluation and improvements to our existing programs as well as implementation of new marketing and referral efforts, our goal is to serve more Hoosier families than ever before.

Caregiver Way and Tina McIntosh are forging a new path forward for how we support caregivers and further, how aging can be more purposeful in Indiana (and beyond!). Joy’s House and I will continue to build on the 25-year foundation of service and success. Together, alongside our quarter century of supporters, donors, sponsors, volunteers, families, and friends, Joy’s House will expand beyond the walls of our houses into both state-wide and national opportunities. Alongside you, we have no doubt we will achieve our vision offering individuals the opportunity to live lives filled with knowledge, choice, and comfort.

The future is filled with another million moments of joy.

We celebrate our value of individuality, understanding that each team member brings with them their unique expertise that elevates our Joy’s House strengths and helps us to innovate new programs.

What’s in a name? A whole lot we’ve found! And ours doesn’t represent a particular person, but rather an emotion we strive to provide to our families – joy!

The community we’ve been blessed to build at Joy’s House over the years has positively impacted the lives of thousands of caregiving families, and we’re not done.
