Social activities and daily care in a non-medical environment.

Joy’s House offers a safe, caring and embracing environment for our guests.

Adult Day Services are defined by National Adult Day Service Association as “coordinated programs of professional and compassionate services for adults in a community-based group setting. Services are designed to provide social and some health services to adults who need supervised care in a safe place outside the home during the day.”

Aging adults and those living with mental and/or physical challenges that come to Joy’s House are referred to as “Guests.” While staff are all trained in CPR, First Aid, and transferring, Joy’s House is a non-medical model adult day service. Joy’s House provides care in a place that is safe, allowing family caregivers to continue with their days knowing that their loved ones are being taken care of and enjoying their own community in our adult day setting.

Services FAQ

Hour of operation are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. It is recommended that Guests are on a set schedule so that they can acclimate at Joy’s House

You and your loved one are greeted with a smiling face as soon as you enter our front door. “Coffee and conversation” begins as we reminisce about this day in history, followed by many well-planned physically and mentally stimulating activities throughout the day. You may find us stretching during chair aerobics, laughing as we knock down bowling pins or singing familiar songs during karaoke. During nice weather our garden is accessible at all times. Lunch, provided by American Village in Broad Ripple and by Forest Creek Village on the South side, is served family-style, and the fantastic menu is mailed to you each month so you know what to look forward to each day. An afternoon snack may be as fun as elephant ears or as entertaining as happy hour (non-alcoholic, of course!). No matter what, we make sure to keep your loved one safe and occupied, but if he or she needs a moment of quiet, we can provide that too.

The medication policy and procedure at Joy’s House is fairly extensive, but bottom line is this – if your loved one can swallow a prescribed medication, needs additional supervision in regard to checking blood sugar levels, administering syringed medication or something of this nature, we can help. Let’s talk.

Yes. We are happy to assist our Guests that need assistance in the restroom. It is our goal to make sure that our Guests are clean and comfortable at all times.

Guests must be dropped off and picked up according to their pre-defined scheduled. Staff is trained in transferring. Also be sure to check out integrated Healthcare Coordination services for transportation coordination.

Joy’s House Values Every Individual

Every guest is treated with respect. Our Guests are our friends and we care about each person. Guests often times form bonds and friendships with each other that they may not have otherwise had. We get to know our Guests and offer unique opportunities for activities that give joy to their lives. At Joy’s House, Guests are all included and no one is alone!

Who We Serve

Eligible Guests are 18 and older, and are typically senior adults.

Many of our Guests are no longer able to stay home alone safely due to basic aging or a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, autism, stroke, or multiple sclerosis, to name a few. Maybe they can’t stay home alone due to health and safety concerns. Maybe they like to be busy and participate in activities. And quite simply, maybe they are looking for some excitement in their days and something to call their own.

While most of our Guests live at home with their spouse, adult child, or other relative, some live in group homes or long-term care facilities.

Guest Enrollment

We are here to help!

First, fill out our enrollment form and our team will reach out. It starts with a natural and simple conversation over the phone to determine if the potential Guest seems to be a good fit at Joy’s House and if we might be a good fit for their needs and desires. When there is interest in services, we invite the family to start the enrollment process, schedule a time to visit Joy’s House for a tour, and participate in our more formal Guest assessment. Every Joy’s House Guest completes an assessment to ensure that our services are a good fit.

And, if Joy’s House is not the right fit, we do everything in our power to make sure that families receive the proper care from another service.
