November 2020 Email Newsletter Happy Thanksgiving! With Thanksgiving fast approaching even during these uncertain times we realize that we have a lot to be thankful for at Joy’s House. We are thankful that we get to safely visit with our friends everyday. We are thankful for hot meals and tasty desserts for lunch. We are thankful for virtual music therapy with our friends at the University of Indianapolis. We are thankful to celebrate fall with crafts and activities. And, we are thankful for you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours this week. Heroes Work at Joy's House Last week we had an impromptu "Yellow Day" where we decorated the Broad Ripple house in the happiest color we could think of, yellow! We had streamers on the ceilings, on the fans, across all the windows, and pretty much everywhere we could reach with a streamer and tape! It was a yellow explosion that put a smile on our team member's faces when they arrived that day. Our team leaders led the charge to appreciate our direct care staff through acts of kindness, treats and support throughout the week. And Panera Bread dropped by to give us a gift to say thank you for all that we do for the community. We love our Care Services Team! Now Welcoming New Families Do you know a family in need of Joy’s House adult day services? We are open at both locations and currently accepting new Guests! While these are challenging times, we are able to serve our Guests safely. Please call 317-254-0828 or click here for more information. Caregiver Crossing, a Joy's House Podcast We recently launched Caregiver Crossing, a Joy's House podcast. Hosted by Tina McIntosh and Terri Stacy, this weekly podcast provides comfort, resources and joy to caregivers with a new episode every Monday. You can listen here or wherever you find your podcasts. By donating today you are helping us meet the needs of families who rely on us for safety, care and community during this season. Learn more about how your gifts are helping us keep families together at joyshouse.org. You've Got Mail Look for a little holiday cheer from us in the mail this week! And keep an eye on your email inbox and social media a week from today for our Giving Tuesday messages. Volunteering at Joy's House For the safety of our Guests all in-person volunteering at both of our houses has been suspended through the unforeseeable future.
Curious how you can help out from home? While we can't have any service projects at our houses, we'd love for you to support our Guests digitally! If you have 15 minutes one day in December and want to sing some carols, play some holiday tunes over lunch, or maybe kiddos who are e-learning could practice their reading by sharing a holiday story with our Guests – we would love it!
During the holidays our houses would typically be so full of Christmas cheer and we'd love the (digital!) opportunity to let our Guests know that you are thinking of them. Email volunteer@joyshouse.org and we'll find a time for you to spread some virtual holiday magic. Our Mission Joy’s House serves adults living with life-altering diagnoses and their families by providing exceptional adult day and caregiver services.
